Tetris |
noun |
A personal computer (and arcade) game in which various shaped pieces using four blocks fall from the top of the display, and the object is to form complete lines (which are then cleared from the display). The game is over when a piece stops (unable to move downward) touching the top of the playing area. Some versions of the game use different colors for the different shapes, and higher scores are achieved by forming complete lines all of the same color. Regardless of colors, higher scores are awarded for completing multiple lines with a single move. Since the longest piece is four blocks in length, it is only directly possible to form four complete lines with one move.
The pieces may be rotated clockwise and counter-clockwise (multiple times) in an attempt to 'fit' into an incomplete line.
