Gruntz What to do, what to do?!?
1 Bare-handed
  • Enterz on a bridge tile in a quicksand pit.
  • There is a Coin on a Crumbling Tile to the south, and another to the north, with just a Blue Hold Switch (BHS) beyond it.
  • Go south and pick up Coin #1
  • then quickly north for Coin #2
  • then to the BHS.
  • You do not remain there long, because a Red Warp (RW) openz under you, and you are whisked away to a Blue Toggle Switch (BTS).
  • A missile from an enemy grunt is on its way toward you, but you are already gone ... through another RW.
  • You land on something hard ... gauntletz (Tool #1) ... the way to freedom.
1 Gauntletz
  • You break four little mushroomz revealing some arrowz
  • and you break


    a big mushroom
    revealing ... more arrowz(!)
    and a CheckPoint Switch (CPS).


  • If you don't mind a bit of pain, you can stand on some spikez , and break another large mushroom before you go through the Blue Wormhole.
  • Me? I'm a wimp! I'll take my chancez that there will be another (less painful) opportunity to do that breaking.
  • You land between a rock (er, mushroom) and a hard place (bigger mushroom).
  • Break the small mushroom to reveal a green hold switch with a Coin #3 on it.


  • break the big mushroom
    revealing ... more arrowz(!)
    and a Secret Switch
    with Coin #4 on it.


  • A temporary bridge takez you toward the island to the northwest.
  • You use the megaphone #1 -- boomerang .


  • break the big mushroom
    revealing ... more arrowz(!)
    and a Secret Switch
    with Coin #5 on it.


  • Cross the temporary bridge toward the northwest, and break seven small mushroomz
  • turn two enemy gruntz into Goo
  • pick up the six Coinz (#6, #7, #8, #9, #10 & #11)
  • pick up the gooberstraw (Tool #2).
1 GooberStraw
  • You'll be using a Tool very much like this one several timez, so figure out what it doez.
  • Go around the area, sucking up 2 Goo Puddlez (2 of 4).
  • Collect the Warp letter on the Purple Multi-Grunt Switch (PMGS).
  • Whoa! That was a trip! Back to the small island.
  • Suck up 2 more Goo Puddlez (4 of 4).
  • The Goo Well is full, so a new Grunt (#2) is baked.
  • Then go through the Blue Wormhole.
  • Hit the ground running, to avoid being struck by a missile from an enemy grunt .
  • Dive through the Blue Wormhole.
  • Cross the lowered green pyramid to pick up the Gauntletz (Tool #3).
2 Bare-handed
  • GruntCreationPad is on a bridge tile in a quicksand pit.
  • Step lively! You are under fire from an enemy grunt !
  • It is possible to use too many megaphonez and, thus, lose Toolz and/or Toyz you may need later.
  • Use the megaphone to the southeast (Megaphone #7) -- Gauntletz
  • Use the megaphone to the northwest (Megaphone #2) -- Springz
  • Have you noticed that all of the Toolz are still in the GruntzMachine? (So far, so good!)
  • Dive through the Blue Wormhole.
  • You land on a used-up Secret Switch .
  • The new guy is in a supporting role ... on the Green Hold Switch .
  • He takez the boomerang from the GruntzMachine (Resourcez) ... (Tool #4).
1 Gauntletz
  • Breakz a mushroom , revealing a Yellow Toggle Switch (YTS) with a Coin (#12) on it.
  • Movez on to break another mushroom , revealing a Green Hold Switch with a Coin on it ... which he takez (Coin #13) .
  • While he is standing there, breaking another mushroom , revealing a Yellow Hold Switch with a Coin on it ... Boomerang Grunt crossez the lowered green pyramid .
  • He takez the Coin (#14) from the Yellow Hold Switch .
  • That startz a Golf Ball rolling (made by a company with a "just in time inventory" plan).
  • It squishez an enemy grunt with a short fuse, blowing up a Giant Mushroom, revealing a CPS .
2 Boomerang
  • Passez Gauntletz, taking a 'ride' on some Arrowz to a used-up Black One-Time Switch .
  • From there and from one tile away, he usez 'remote control' to dispatch two enemy gruntz .
  • Seeing no further use for the bent piece of wood, he pickz up the Spongegun (Tool #5) ... giving Gauntletz the opportunity to come down and join him.
2 SpongeGun
  • You survey the area from your new vantage point.
  • You step on an Arrow and 'take a ride' to your CPS and the Coin (#17) on it.
  • Your participation in this puzzle is ended ... right where you are!
1 Gauntletz
  • You dance around some jumping Golf Ballz
  • break a Giant Mushroom and pick up a Coin (#18) atop a Secret Switch .
  • Cross the temporary bridge toward the southwest, and break seven small mushroomz
  • turn two enemy gruntz into Goo
  • pick up the six Coinz (#19, #20, #21, #22, #23 & #24)
  • pick up the gooberstraw (Tool #6).
  • Did that last bit sound familiar? (It should!)
1 GooberStraw
  • Go around the area, sucking up 2 Goo Puddlez .
  • Now an expert on the use of this Tool, you have the Goo Well ... half(!) ... full (2 of 4).
  • Collect the Warp letter on the PMGS.
  • The RW landz you near a CPS .
  • Suck up 4 more Goo Puddlez (4 of 4)
  • The Goo Well is full, so a new Grunt (#3) is baked ... and the Goo Well is still ... half(!) ... full (2 of 4).
  • Occupy your CPS and collect the Coin (#25) on it.
  • Your participation in this puzzle is ended ... right where you are!
3 Bare_handed
  • GruntCreationPad is on a bridge tile in a quicksand pit.
  • Step lively! You are under fire from an enemy grunt !
  • Dive through the BW to the southeast.
  • You land on a Green Pyramid near the Straw grunt (now retired).
  • You see a path to the east, and take it.
  • "Uh ... a little help here?" You find Gauntletz waiting in the GruntzMachine (Resourcez) and put them on (Tool #7).
3 Gauntletz
  • You break a Giant Mushroom with a Coin (#26) in the center.
  • Then you break a small Mushroom with another Coin (#27) in it.
  • Standing on a Green Pyramid , you break another Giant Mushroom.
  • There is a Coin on a CPS that doez not belong to you ... but you take the Coin (#28) anyway ... because it is hard to avoid it!
  • You are given no choice, but must next pick up the SuperSpeed item ... before you can break the Giant Mushroom next to it.
  • You pick up the Coin (#29) on the YTS and follow the rolling Golf Ball ... for a while.
  • You need to stop and think how to go through all those jumping Golf Ballz.
  • While you are pondering this problem, you hear "Hallelujah!" and a stairway appearz beside you.
  • Breaking a Giant Mushroom you can understand, and it revealz a Silver Timer Switch with a Coin (#30) on it ... and several (more) Silver Pyramidz .
  • Did I mention there is an enemy grunt tossing thingz your way?
  • Pay attention to what happenz when you move to the only place available (after the stairway disappearz) other than where you had to move.
  • Duck back, when the next missile is on its way, then prove you were paying attention, as you make your way through the Silver Pyramidz maze.
  • You make it through, and are (probably) pelted by another missile from another enemy grunt .
  • You break the Giant Mushroom, giving you a little more choice in how to avoid another missile.
  • There is alwayz a Bottle of Zap Cola , if you are a little bit slow in deciding what to do next.
  • (There are two wayz to handle this mini-puzzle.)
  • Either method, you get the Coin (#31) on the Secret Switch in the center, and cross the temporary Bridge to the island to the northeast.
  • Break a Giant Mushroom and pick up a Coin (#32) atop a Secret Switch .
  • Cross the temporary bridge toward the northeast, and break seven small mushroomz.
  • turn two enemy gruntz into Goo
  • pick up the six Coinz (#33, #34, #35, #36, #37 & #38)
  • pick up the gooberstraw (Tool #8).
  • Did that last bit sound familiar? (It should! This is the third time you (the solver) have done this.)
3 GooberStraw
  • Go around the area, sucking up 2 Goo Puddlez (4 of 4).
  • Now an expert on the use of this Tool, you have the Goo Well ... full!
  • Collect the Warp letter on the PMGS.
  • The RW sendz you back near the Secret Switch that got you here.
  • Suck up 2 more Goo Puddlez (2 of 4).
  • The Goo Well is full, so a new Grunt (#4) is baked.
  • Dive through the Blue Wormhole.
  • You are back to the area with all the jumping Golf Ballz ... and that enemy grunt is still tossing thingz at you!
  • Make your way through the jumping Golf Ballz to suck up some more Goo (4 of 4) and pick up Coin (#39) .
  • The Goo Well is again full, so another new Grunt (#5) is baked.
  • Such up the other Goo Puddlez ... and the Goo Well is still ... half(!) ... full (2 of 4), and collect the Coin (#40) 'guarded' by the rolling Golf Ball .
  • Pick up the dangerous object (Tool #9) ... carefully.
3 Bomb
  • Find a way to get to the BOTS southwest of you ... dawdle a bit.
  • You collect the Coin (#41) on the BOTS and the way is clear to your CPS .
  • You collect the Coin (#42) on your CPS .
  • Your participation in this puzzle is ended ... right where you are!
4 Bare_handed
  • GruntCreationPad is on a bridge tile in a quicksand pit.
  • Step lively! You are under fire from an enemy grunt !
  • Is there anything useful in the GruntzMachine? Like Springz , perhapz?!? Well ... mount up! (Tool #10)
4 Springz
  • Do you go south, or do you go west? (Go west, young (wo)man.)
  • The Springz had a short, but useful life ... they got you out of the line of fire.
  • You land on a SpongeGun (Tool #11), walled in by Purple Pyramidz .
4 Spongegun
  • You take a pot shot at the enemy grunt , and send him on his way ... to a PMGS.
  • You're free! Is there anyone else you'd like to shoot?
  • Pick up the Gauntletz (Tool #12)
4 Gauntletz
  • Go get the Coin (#43) on the Orange Up/Down Switch (OU/DS).
  • Then get the Coin (#44) revealed when the mushroom was broken.
  • Continue through the Orange Pyramidz and break another mushroom , revealing Coin (#45) on an OU/DS.
  • Break a Giant Mushroom, revealing a Secret Switch with a Coin (#46) in the center.
  • Cross the temporary bridge toward the southeast, and break seven small mushroomz.
  • turn two enemy gruntz into Goo
  • pick up the six Coinz (#47, #48, #49, #50, #51 & #52)
  • pick up the gooberstraw (Tool #13).
  • This is the last time you (the solver) will have to do this.
4 GooberStraw
  • Go around the area, sucking up 2 Goo Puddlez (4 of 4).
  • Expert as you are on the use of this Tool, you have the Goo Well ... full!
  • The last new grunt (#6) is baked.
  • Collect the Warp letter on the PMGS.
  • One Purple Pyramid is lowered (four enemy gruntz are on PMGSz in the four cornerz), so you can pick up the GunHat (Tool #14).
5 Bare-handed
  • GruntCreationPad is on a bridge tile in a quicksand pit.
  • Step lively! You are under fire from an enemy grunt !
  • Is there anything useful in the GruntzMachine? Like Springz , perhapz?!? Well ... mount up! (Tool #15)
5 Springz
  • There is only one way to go ... and leave the quicksand pit.
  • Your short fight leavez you 'behind barz' (er, trapped in Purple Pyramidz ).

  • Is there anything useful in the GruntzMachine? Well ... put them on (Tool #17) ... and break something!
6 Bare-handed
  • GruntCreationPad is on a bridge tile in a quicksand pit.
  • Step lively! You are under fire from an enemy grunt !
  • Is there anything useful in the GruntzMachine? Like Springz , perhapz?!? Well ... mount up! (Tool #16)
6 Springz
  • There is only one way to go ... and leave the quicksand pit.
  • On your way, you stop to use a Megaphone -- Gauntletz .
  • Further on your way, you stop to use another Megaphone -- Shovel .
  • Dive through the last remaining BW.
  • Is there anything useful in the GruntzMachine? Like a Shovel , perhapz?!? Well ... learn how to use it (Tool #18) ... pointy end down!
6 Shovel
  • You are under fire from that nasty enemy grunt again!
  • Duck a little, dig a little , duck some more. Repeat as often as necessary.
  • One Mound yieldz explosive resultz ... which removez a Giant Mushroom ... and revealz a Secret Switch with a Coin on it.
  • One Mound yieldz a Coin (#53) .
  • One Mound yieldz a Coin (#54) ... on a PMGS. (Gruntz #4 and #5 may move now.)
5 Gauntletz


  • break the big mushroom
    revealing ... more arrowz(!)
    and a BOTS
    with Coin #55 on it.


  • You step on the Arrow , which takez you to the BOTS.
  • Now you may move to the right across the Intersection Arrow and break something else.
  • That revealz another BOTS and Coin #56 , which allowz you and GunHat to move west.
  • There is a CPS with a Coin #57 calling you, but you see more work ahead, and perform your last task.
  • Break another Giant Mushroom to reveal a YTS with Coin #58 on it.
  • A Rolling Golf Ball is released, but it doez not come into play.
  • Then you go back and light up that CPS.
  • Your participation in this puzzle is ended ... right where you are!
4 GunHat
  • Standing on the used-up Secret Switch you take a pot shot at the enemy grunt . (Take another, if you hit him, but he lingerz on.)
  • You follow Gauntletz and maneuver past him to weave your way north, to pick up Coin #59 that is waiting on a Green Hold Switch .
  • Finally, get Coin #60 that is sitting on your CPS .
  • Your participation in this puzzle is ended ... right where you are!
6 Shovel
  • The explosion revealed a Secret Switch with Coin #61 on it. (Your teammatez have been busy, too!)
  • A temporary stairway appearz toward the west, and you move up and past the Mound ... and dig it up, and pocket Coin #62 .
  • Dig up two more Moundz , and pocket Coinz #63 & #64 .
  • Satisfy your CPS with Coin #65 on it, and a CheckPoint Pyramid lowerz .
  • Walk along the Bridge and pick up Coinz #66 & #67 .
  • Dig up a Mound to reveal a Secret Switch with Coin (#68) on it.
  • Temporary Bridge Tilez are raised to allow you to get the Warpstone Piece.
6 Warpstone
  • Walk along the Bridge and pick up Coinz #69 & #70 .
  • Take the Warpstone to the King.
