“ERUPTIONS” Walkthrough by “oldone” The level begins with three gruntz, two bare-handed and one Spongegunz who is temporarily trapped. Send the two bare-handed gruntz over the pool to the lava field. One will go directly across and SE to the next toggle bridge. The other heads south along the far left edge of the crumble bridge to the island south of him. Don’t bother fighting the enemy. Just grab the coins and go north to join up with your friend. Both bare-handeds now cross the toggle/crumble bridge to the next island and on to the area directly below the pool where we began. SAVE. Send one bare-handed to the dock and south to the blue toggle switch. Pick up the gauntletz and return to the north. Break everything you can reach. When the dust settles, hit the green toggle switch and continue breaking the rocks you can now reach. The bare-handed should now get the brick-laying tool. And as distasteful as it is, one of you has to pick up that coin (no secret here). Bricklayer now goes south to lay a brick and get rid of that pesky coconut. Switch places with Gauntletz so he can break the brick and then you can join him. Lay another brick. Gauntletz breaks the volcano and you’re both free to go south and attempt the secret switch! My suggestion here is to save your game like a little baby! Send Gauntletz to the right directly across the lava flow from the stairs. Bricklayer hits the secret switch and runs to the right to avoid being incinerated. Gauntletz crosses the bridge and breaks the rock. Take the wings and when another lava flow opens on your right, find the shortest path possible, and fly over it, around the two volcanoes and into the middle of the red pyramids (They need to be down when you arrive, so time this carefully.) You’ll lose those wings, but that’s OK, you don’t need them anymore. Pick your way through the red and green pyramids, get the coin, then the gauntletz, and return through the blue warp. When Gauntletz returns, it’s time to go east and see about getting that rolling coconut across those toggle bridges so that it can hit the blue toggle switch across the water. Timing, timing, timing, so maybe you’d better save again. One of your gruntz toggles the yellow switch partially hidden by the tree and runs to stand on the blue hold switch, while the other grunt controls the blue toggle switch. Once the coconut has hit the other blue toggle switch, the grunt on the blue hold switch goes back and hits the yellow switch again so that the other grunt can cross the bridges and get the coin. Both gruntz now cross over to the silver pyramids. One goes to the bottom right corner and picks up the coins and exits through the green warp, the other goes to the exit at the top right. Hit the checkpoint. SAVE. Hit the BOT switch and wait for the fighting to end. You might want to do this several times until the last enemy standing only has health in the red. (Easier to turn him into goo without losing any health yourself.) Meanwhile, start breaking rocks and volcanoes. Bricklayer gets the straw, and Gauntletz can now dispatch that last enemy. Suck up all the goo and bake a new grunt. Drop him onto the creation pad. Gauntletz breaks the last rock and gets the squeak toy. Straw stands on a purple switch and Gauntletz lures the enemy to stand next to him on the other two switches. (Beware the enemy spongegunz!) The new grunt is released and all three of you should get rid of the grunt with the toy. Suck up his goo. Now might be a good time to save. Avoiding the spongez being lobbed at you, your new grunt gets the springz and steps on the BOTS. Bye-bye Spongegunz! Springz now sets off to the west through the spikes field to hit all the BOTS. Don’t try to get the coins yet. Send another grunt south through the rolling coconuts to get the coins. Once the black pyramids are down, Gauntletz and Spongegunz can come through to the checkpoint. Spongegunz gets the shovel and goes off to fill all necessary holes and get the coins. Fill the hole below the coin on the red pyramid so that Springz can get that. On to the checkpoint. SAVE. Each grunt crosses his corresponding bridge, gets a straw and sucks up the goo puddle. Return through the green warps and drop the new grunt on the creation pad. Everyone gets a new tool. It might be wise to give the bomb to the weakest grunt. Bombz can now sacrifice himself by getting rid of the yellow bricks. Gauntletz breaks the middle and right hand bricks, and then, walking on the right hand side, quickly goes to the dock in the south. The enemy Bomberz should all come out and blow up the rocks on the left. Trigger the blue toggle switches and pick up the coin. Springz now jumps to the center bridge tile and diagonally up to the blue toggle switch. From there he jumps to the next blue toggle switch picking up another coin on the way. (If you look closely, that coin by the volcano is miraculously suspended in space, so you might want to leave that for now.) From here jump to the right, down one tile, and diagonally down right to the space in front of the bottom arrow above the volcano. (You can do this a little later in the level if you prefer.) This will trigger a red warp to the NW of him. I’m a little baby, so I save a couple of times in the following sequence. Follow the toggling bridge through the lava field to the dock in the west. Get the two coins south of you and (save again) watch the toggle bridges closely here. You’ll want to go diagonally southeast two tiles and then to the coin. You must anticipate the rising tiles and jump before they actually come up. It might take a little practice, but it is definitely doable. Get the coin and go to the dock. Anticipating the next tile, jump to the next dock and get the coin. Again, anticipating the next tile, jump to the red warp. See now, that wasn’t so hard! Nevertheless, you wouldn’t want to do it again, would you? Maybe you should save again. Go back the way you came, and you and your friends can all walk down to the silver pyramids. All three gruntz go through the pyramids. Gauntletz breaks volcanoes, Springz hits the blue toggle switches and Shovelz fills the holes under the coins. Gauntletz now has another job to do. Break the volcano by the green pyramids, pick up the superspeed powerup, get the coin and go through the blue warp. (There is a little trick here, but I’m sure you’ll figure it out.) Break the volcano blocking the Spongegunz and he can help you get back over the arrows. He’ll take the blue warp. Now all four of you can leave this area. Spongegunz helps the other three onto the appropriate checkpoints. They move south to the purple switches so that he can get to his checkpoint and then return to their own. SAVE. Send one grunt north to get the coin hidden in the trees. Each grunt can now stand by his own area. (It’s really quite obvious!) Shoot Gauntletz over the arrow. He breaks a rock and gets out quick. Then he can enter again to stand on the purple switch. Shoot the others into their respective areas so they can stand on the purple switches and let Spongegunz into his area. Each grunt then does his business and goes through the blue warp at the end. (Maybe some saving here would be good.) Gauntletz should not try to get the coin at the end of the bridge, as this is impossible for him to do. Perhaps someone will come back for it later. When all your gruntz are together again, step on the checkpoints and enter the next section. Spongegunz can easily dispatch the enemies in this area. Continue around to the west and south. The checkpoint can wait for a while, until you’ve gone through the lava field in the south. SAVE. Send Springz fully south to the purple pyramids and blue switches. Your other gruntz will cross the toggling and crumble bridges from one set of purple switches to another (saving between each set as there is some very tricky timing here) as Springz goes from one blue switch to another until he’s in the area with the blue warp. From here, he will control the final bridge for the other three gruntz. (Hint: numbering the top three BTS left to right from 1-3, hit 2 & 3, 2, 1, and 1; repeat for each grunt.) The Spongegunz will pick up the toobz. Gauntletz and Shovelz will continue to clear the way south. (Do not pick up the wingz!) Now Springz can enter the blue warp. He lands right in the front of the rolling coconut. SAVE. You must time this so that Springz can hit the yellow toggle switch, jump to the toggling bridge and onto the dock above him. The coconut will roll harmlessly to the east and off into the lava. Springz follows the arrows to the next blue warp. He gets the wingz and all four gruntz enter the green warp and proceed to the area near the checkpoint. SAVE. Gauntletz, Shovelz, and Toobz rest on their checkpoints while Wingz runs a few errands. Go north and fly over the pool to the bridge. Walking around the bridge and back toward the area of the secret switch, cross the bridge in the south, then go east and stand directly across the lava from the warp letter. Fly over, pick it up, fly back and walk back to the bridge at the pool. Go to your right and down to the gray pyramids above the coins. Get the coins, pick up the new wingz, fly diagonally SW, and walk back to the checkpoint. Send Wingz into the northern blue warp. Fly over the coin and when the toggling bridge raises you should be able to pick it up. (Be sure to conserve some wing power, as you’ll need a little to get back into your checkpoint area.) Enter the green warp, walk through the lava field and fly past your checkpoint to the remaining blue warp where you’ll get new wingz. SAVE. All four gruntz cross the toggling bridges. Wingz flies to the coin in the north (using the tiles to conserve wing power) and comes back. Wait beside the arrows. Standing in front of the first hole, Shovelz digs and, with any luck, the enemy grunt will fall into it before he has a chance to swat you. Fill the hole, get the coins and go to your checkpoint. Wingz can now walk through the arrows and get the new wingz. A pyramid by the coin has now been lowered, so using the shortest possible route, send wings to get it. Come back to the dock and walk/fly south to the BOTS and the blue toggle switch. You can rest now. Toobz goes west, loses his toobz and steps on the blue toggle switch. One of your remaining gruntz stands on the blue hold switch and the other one goes to get the warpstone. He then continues to the silver pyramids. We’re almost home now so it might be wise to save.
